My laptop has issues or is old.  What next?

Laptop ages are carefully reviewed in our asset list & as they age, we schedule its replacement before it reaches 5-years or based on its reliability.  If your laptop develops a serious issue, we generally organise a warranty repair but may replace it early.  

I've been notified of a laptop upgrade, what now?

  - Check all your personal data is in the default folders (My Documents etc) & has moved over to the new laptop.  Alternatively move any other personal data to H:\ or a USB stick. 

  - Make sure you have no Outlook Archives (PST) files connected to your Outlook.  If so, disconnect these & save them elsewhere.

  - Make a list of all the apps you need so you can ensure these (or alternatives) are available on your new PC.

  - Gather your saved web logins for external web portals from Edge & Chrome.  It's a great idea to save these into a KeePass database.

  - Partially clear your desk to ensure you have space for 2 laptops as you transfer over to the new PC.

  - If you don't have a suitable carry bag to protect your laptop, contact IT.

What's the best laptop for me?

Not all laptops are created equal.  Some have high powered CPUs with more cores; some have graphics cards & others are designed to be portable.  Here's the options we have in our catalogue, depending on your role.
